Have you heard of Giving Tuesday? It takes place each year on the Tuesday following Black Friday to encourage people to do good. It began in 2012 and has grown around the world with movements in more than 80 countries, working year-round to inspire generosity and create a world where giving is part of everyday life. Remember, small things add up to big changes in the end!
At Kindred, we encourage our staff, members, and community partners to consider how they might participate in Giving Tuesday. While financial donations are great, here are some other ways you can support your favourite charity:
- Talk about it! Tell your friends, family, and colleagues about the organization.
- Engage online. Share and like their content on social media (if you use them).
- Volunteer your time.
- Donate a needed item. Ask the organization if there is an item (food, furniture, etc.) that they need and share what you can.
Don’t forget – there’s still time to donate to Kindred’s Fall Food Drive. At Kindred, we recognize that food security is a pressing issue facing many members of our community. Each of our eight branches have partnered with a local community organization that is working to address food security. During the month of November, all Kindred locations will be collecting financial donations and non-perishable food items in branch to be donated to their select organization.
